HDD Operational Stress Analysis

After a pipe is installed by HDD and put into service, it still carries the residual curvature of the bore plus operating pressure, thermal load, and external overburden. This calculator evaluates the combined axial, bending, and hoop stresses on the in-service pipe to confirm it stays within the code-allowable limit over its operating life.

It is the operating-condition counterpart to the installation (pullback) stress check.
