Open Cut Buried Pipe Load Analysis

For pipe installed by conventional trenching, the governing loads are the weight of the backfill overburden and any surface live load bearing down through the cover. This calculator evaluates those earth and live loads together with the bedding and backfill conditions to check ring deflection and buried-pipe stress.

It applies where a crossing is open-cut rather than trenchless, complementing the HDD installation-stress tools.

What it evaluates

  • Earth (overburden) load from backfill height and density
  • Surface live load distributed through the cover soil
  • Ring deflection given bedding and backfill stiffness
  • Resulting circumferential and longitudinal pipe stress
